H2O Foundation Welcomes Phil Goodwin to Its Board of Directors

Phil Goodwin

Birmingham, Alabama — The H2O Foundation, a Birmingham-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring seniors and vulnerable residents across Greater Birmingham maintain access to safe and reliable water services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Goodwin to its Board of Directors.

Goodwin brings more than 30 years of experience in the water infrastructure industry to the foundation’s leadership team. He currently serves as Director of Government Affairs for U.S. Pipe and Foundry Co., where he has spent 25 years working across departments including Customer Service, Marketing, Sales Operations, and Government Affairs. In his current role, he travels the country advocating for resilient water infrastructure and promoting clean water access for all Americans.

He also serves as Chair of the Alabama Iron and Steel Council and participates in multiple trade organizations focused on the water industry. His work at the federal and state level centers on securing funding for the kind of water infrastructure that communities like Greater Birmingham depend on every day.

“Water is essential to life,” Goodwin has said, “and everyone deserves access to safe and reliable water service.” That conviction mirrors the mission H2O has carried for more than two decades.

A native of Valley, Alabama, Goodwin holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration from Samford University. He has called Birmingham home for much of his career and is deeply committed to serving the community beyond his professional work. He volunteers with the Jimmie Hale Mission, a Birmingham recovery center that supports adults impacted by homelessness and addiction, and participates in international development partnerships in Moldova through his church.

His appointment strengthens H2O’s ability to advocate for water access at every level, from the resident applying for assistance to the policy conversations happening in state capitals and Washington, D.C.

The H2O Foundation has served Greater Birmingham since 2003, providing financial assistance for water and sewer bills, emergency plumbing repairs, and shutoff prevention for seniors and vulnerable residents who qualify.
